David Pickup

Antique Dealer

I established my business in 1980 and specialise in fine English furniture and works of art from the late 17th and 18th centuries.  I also have a great passion for and deal in Arts and Crafts furniture of The Cotswold Movement from 1890 to the 1930's.

Whatever the period the criteria remains the same, pieces should be beautiful, well designed, of excellent quality, with a minimum of restoration and above all be of great color and patination.

My shop is on the High Street of the delightful Cotswold town of Burford.  Open Monday to Friday, 9.30 am - 5.30 pm and Saturday, 10 am - 4.30 pm.  A telephone call is always advisable.

I am a member of The British Antique Dealers Association and The Cotswold Antique Dealers Association.

The John Davies Gallery is a modern gallery with a cosmopolitan feel situated in the Cotswolds and is known for exhibitions of both Period and Contemporary works of art ranging from traditional through modern to progressive.  The business was established by John Davies with over 30 years of art-world experience.  The 3,000 sq. ft complex houses three main galleries offering a range of styles, affording an ideal location for the presentation of the wide variety of exhibitions displayed throughout the year.

The John Davies Gallery has a comprehensive website www.johndaviesgallery.com and has regular Private Views for mailing list subscribers affording the opportunity to meet the artist and enjoy a preview of the work displayed.  Sculpture also plays a role in the repertoire and the massive success of James Corbett’s reused post-war car parts welded into vintage cars, animals and cyclists amongst others has drawn a wide following.

A bold departure from the stereotypical Cotswold gallery, the John Davies Gallery is set in a small Business Park’s old Dairy Plant abutting Moreton in Marsh railway line and is an excellent venue for dropping into with ample parking and easy access to the local shops and pubs after your visit.
